Biography

Originally from Spokane, Washington, I now live in a small community on Samish Island in Skagit County which is wedged between the Cascade Mountains and the Salish Sea. Living on an island in the Pacific Northwest provides access to nature and in particular the variety of plants, animals, birds and aquatic species that live close to and are dependent on the waters of this intertidal region. As a cut paper artist my interests stem from environmental challenges in rural landscapes of the Northwest and I am inspired by historic cut paper artwork from China, Israel, Denmark and Mexico and black Victorian silhouettes of the 19th century. I use an all-purpose X-acto knife to cut Arches Cover Black paper.
